As per scripture, it is said that Lord Brahma mediated at this lake in this region. Hence it got named Brahmatal lake and thus the trek.

The Brahmatal trek has everything you need on a great Himalayan trek. It has magnificent mountain views of Nanda Ghunti, Nandakot, Trishul, Maiktoli Chaukhamba, Nellkanth and the other big mountains from the other side and they all look very close so it’s a very grand view, snow-filled trails, an abundance of Rhododendron, and the adventure of undertaking a winter trek. Hence it is a very unique trek. So if you haven't done a winter trek, this is definitely the right one you start with this coming winter season.

Brahmatal Trek has a frozen alpine lake at the base of the Brahmatal top. It is like a ridge, which gives the maximum views of all the Himalayas mountains.

Apart from that, you can see the Roopkund trek trail in the Brahmatal Trek itself. The maximum climb on the Brahmatal Summit is 12,500 ft. There is a gradual ascend from 8000 ft to 12000 ft over 4 days of the trek. Plus, the path leading to Brahmatal through the forests is covered in snow. So be ready to glaze in snow, and experience extreme weather on the Brahmatal top and summit. It is a 6-day trek and the base camp is at Lohajung.

The best part of the Brahmatal trek is it's open even in peak winters when the remaining winter treks like Kedarkhanta.
